Resources

Implementing the Gospel Tool in your context (1:1, small group, church wide, etc) need not be a daunting process. Here we invite you to take your time and explore each resource to see which ones will be most helpful at this point. Additionally, you might benefit from listening to the pre-recorded sermons which go with each lesson, or in downloading the sample packet to share with a friend who is considering joining you on the Gospel Tool discipleship journey.

Introduction to The Gospel Tool

We’re glad you are considering the use of the Gospel Tool as a means to grow disciples who make disciples in your church.  You can view or download the following materials that will help to tell the story of why the Gospel Tool may be your new discipleship pathway:

Facilitator’s Handbook

This content empowers facilitators to lead their Discussion Groups as they study the Gospel Tool Bible Study together. It gives facilitators a clear sense of what is required to lead those discussions, and also how to support group members in their growth throughout this discipleship journey.

Self Assessment Tool

The Self-Assessment Tool was developed as a way to intentionally evaluate one’s own growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ, at several points along this discipleship journey. While we often have goals in other areas of our lives, we sometimes neglect that type of intentionality when it comes to our spiritual growth.

Insights from the field of education, as well as a study of discipleship maturity, have shaped this assessment tool. It is designed to help grow self-awareness, and also to help identify marks of maturity and goals for personal growth, which can be discussed and shared with one another for the purpose of prayer and mutual encouragement. It is not a complete list of the marks of spiritual maturity, but those who have used it thus far have found it very helpful to track their progress.

Scripture Index

The Gospel Tool is deeply rooted in Scripture; each lesson refers to multiple passages. It may be helpful for you to have an overview of all of the passages that are directly studied throughout the Gospel Tool journey.

We’ve organized the Scripture index into two separate formats.  You can view or download either Scripture Index here:

Sermon Series Planning Guide

It could be highly beneficial to align your sermon series with The Gospel Tool Bible Study lessons. The Sermon Series Planning Guide suggests texts that can be used for this purpose.

Recorded Sermons For Lessons

If you are using the Sermon Series Planning Guide (from the previous tab), then you may find these recorded sermons to be a helpful springboard as you prepare your own. Each sermon corresponds with a unit/lesson of The Gospel Tool Bible Study.

These sermons were preached at Gold Avenue Church, where The Gospel Tool Bible Study originated.
